Is your weight really the best measure of your health?
We often reduce health to one number on the scales.
But your weight doesn’t tell you everything that’s happening inside your body.
Depending on your goals and circumstances, other markers can provide a much better picture:
Blood glucose & HbA1c — useful indicators of blood sugar control
Blood pressure — an important part of cardiovascular health
Strength & body composition — tells us more about physical function and muscle
Waist measurement — can provide useful information about central body fat
Sleep & recovery — often overlooked but important for overall health
Energy & wellbeing — how you actually feel matters too
None of these should be looked at in isolation.
The takeaway
Don’t let one number define your health.
Look at the bigger picture and, where appropriate, work with your healthcare team to understand what your individual markers mean.
