đź§Ş peptides: where does the science end and the hype begin?

If you’ve spent any time online recently, you’ve probably noticed that peptides are everywhere.

One person says:

“This changed my life.”

Another says:

“This is the future of medicine.”

Someone else says:

“Everyone should be using it.”

And suddenly it sounds like we’ve discovered the answer to everything.

But let’s slow down for a second.

:microscope: WHAT DOES “THE RESEARCH” ACTUALLY MEAN?

There are different levels of evidence.

A biological mechanism can be interesting.

An animal study can be interesting.

An early human study can be interesting.

A larger, well-designed clinical trial is a different level of evidence.

And even strong evidence for one specific use doesn’t automatically mean:

“This works for everyone, for everything.”

:police_car_light: This is where social media gets confusing.

A confident influencer can make a scientific claim sound more certain than the evidence actually is.

A before-and-after photo can be compelling.

A personal experience can be completely genuine.

But none of those automatically tells us:

  • Whether something is safe
  • Whether it is effective
  • Who it is appropriate for
  • What the long-term effects are
  • Whether it is approved for a particular use

:brain: TRY THIS NEXT TIME YOU SEE A PEPTIDE CLAIM

Ask:

1. What’s the actual evidence?

2. Was this studied in humans?

3. What was the population and dose?

4. What were the limitations?

5. Is someone selling me something?

That last question matters.
